Local Physician Given National Recognition
Orthopedic Surgeon, Walter Stanwood, M.D.

October 29, 2015, (Duxbury, MA) At the recent Closed Meeting of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), held in Asheville, North Carolina, October 8-11, 2015, Walter Stanwood, MD was elected to join ASES organization. Membership in ASES is a privilege and an honor. Only experienced orthopaedic surgeons who have completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, and/or sports medicine are considered for membership. Candidates must meet strict academic and clinical requirements to become members of ASES.

Dr. Walter Stanwood, in his 13th year in practice in Duxbury at Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates, has ascended quickly in his career being recognized with such a national honor. Membership in American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, which has only 491 members, is by invitation only. Nominees to membership must be sponsored by two active members of the organization. Congratulations to Dr. Stanwood on becoming an Associate Member of the society.

Dr. Stanwood attended medical school at Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine, Chicago, IL followed by his fellowship at Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, NY. Stanwood is also a member of the Massachusetts Orthopedic Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and American Medical Society. Dr. Stanwood sees patients in their two clinics at 95 Tremont Street, Duxbury and 290 Route 130, Sandwich. He resides in Duxbury with his wife and children.
