Dr. Brett Teran . . . joining PBO September 1st!

Physiatrist Joining Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates

Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates is pleased to be welcoming a new physician to their practice. Dr. Brett Teran will be joining the expert orthopedic team on September 1st as the designated Practice Physiatrist.

Beginning his formal education at the University of Utah, Dr. Teran first became interested in medicine while studying Exercise Physiology and conducting research with spine models of osteoporosis. He then went on to medical school at Western University of Health Science, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, where he earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine or D.O. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O. or DO) Dr. Teran “received extra training in the musculoskeletal system—the body's interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones that makes up two-thirds of your body mass. This training provides osteopathic physicians with a better understanding of how an illness or injury in one part of your body can affect other parts” (American Osteopathic Association).

He then became a resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York, where he proudly accepted the Spirit of Carol Award - Annual Resident Honor for Humanism, Caring and Compassion in Patient Care, which he received as a Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Teran went on to complete a fellowship in Pain and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin where he furthered his training in the treatment of musculoskeletal and pain conditions under pain and spine medicine experts. He has enjoyed teaching residents and medical students throughout his training in New York and Wisconsin.

Dr. Teran specializes in Conservative Management of Spinal Disorders (Neck and Low Back Pain); Interventional Spine Injections for Pain Management and Non-Surgical Management of Joint Pain.

Dr. Teran is from Utah. He and his wife, Stephani, have two sons and a daughter. He considers himself fortunate to have lived throughout the U.S. for his medical training. He has had the privilege of training under expert physicians in Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine, learning skills in Interventional Spine and Pain Management. In his free time, he enjoys golf, skiing, running, hiking and spending time with his family. Dr. Teran will be performing procedures at the Plymouth Bay Orthopedics clinic in Duxbury and at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.
