Occupational Therapy
Our registered occupational therapists are experts with advanced education and training in hand therapy. Both of our clinicians are CHTs certified by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission to specialize in treating individuals with conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity. They provide comprehensive evaluations, individualized goals and treatment plans to rehabilitate from injuries and conditions affecting the elbow, wrist, hand, and shoulder girdle.
Common Injuries Include:
- Fractures of the Elbow, Wrist, and Hand
- Tendon Injuries
- Custom Orthotics/Splinting
- Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Dupuytren’s Contracture Postoperative Treatment
- Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
- Joint Contracture
- Wrist and Finger Sprains and Strains
- Crushing Injuries
- Trigger Fingers
- Nerve Entrapments and Compressions (including Carpal & Cubital Tunnel)
Every patient evaluation lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Clinical findings are reviewed and a treatment plan discussed based on each patient’s needs and expectations. We work very closely with our onsite orthopedic specialists to communicate care plans, concerns and changes in our patients’ status. Treatment sessions are spent one on one with each patient and incorporate core strengthening along with specific exercises to address weakness and functional loss of their injured area. This approach allows Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Sports Therapy to provide top quality care for all types of orthopedic injuries.
