About Jammed Finger(s):
A jammed finger is a common injury often caused by blunt impact and/or force to the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) of the finger. This occurs when the tip of the finger is pushed towards the hand making the ligaments supporting the joints stretched or even sprained. Jammed fingers can result in a tear in ligaments and may require medical treatment if severe enough.
Signs & Symptoms
- Pain and swelling in the affected area
- Inability to bend, straighten or grip anything with the affected finger or fingers
