About Loose Bodies of the Knee:
Loose bodies of the knee are small fragments of cartilage and/or bone that freely move around the knee within the joint fluid. These loose bodies can impair joint movement by becoming caught inflection and/or movements of extension. Loose bodies can create damage to articular cartilage.
Signs & Symptoms
- Sensation that something is moving inside the knee
- Locking of the knee
How is it Treated?
- Anti-inflammatory medications to temporarily ease pain
- Physical Therapy
- Corticosteroid injection
- Surgical intervention such as a minimally invasive arthroscopy
