About Loose Bodies of the Shoulder:
Loose bodies of the shoulder is a condition in which small pieces of bone or cartilage (known as loose bodies) shear off from the shoulder due to high-impact movement or trauma. These loose bodies can move throughout the joint, causing pain and stiffness while migrating between areas.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Loose bodies can enter a joint creating a “catching” sensation within the joint
- Pain in the shoulder
- An obstructed normal range of motion
How is it Treated?
- Anti-inflammatory medications to temporarily ease pain
- Physical Therapy
- Corticosteroid injection
- Surgical intervention may be required. Seeing an orthopedic specialist should be considered.
