Born and raised in former Yugoslavia, Dr. Stevanovic came to the US at 18 years of age. His path towards medicine was an unconventional one, leading him to obtain a doctorate in clinical pharmacy which he practiced for 6 years, four of which were while attending medical school at the University of Kansas. There, Dr. Stevanovic developed an interest in orthopedic surgery very early and have furthered his knowledge with clinical research and working with orthopedic faculty. Subsequently, his training took him to Chicago, IL where he completed his orthopedic residency at Northwestern University. Dr. Stevanovic recently completed his sports medicine fellowship at the renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Colorado where he obtained additional training in treating complex sports injuries, knee, shoulder, ankle arthroscopy, hip preservation surgery and shoulder arthroplasty.
Dr. Stevanovic is passionate in providing the excellent care for his patients, and his philosophy revolves around ensuring utmost patient education, evidence-based decision making and compassionate care.
He specializes in the treatment of both recreational and professional athletes, with a focus on athletic hip injuries, femoral acetabular impingement, hip preservation surgery, a range of knee and shoulder injuries, minimally invasive shoulder and knee arthroscopy, orthopaedic trauma, and advanced regenerative medicine techniques such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
In the past, he has served as an associate team physician for the Denver Nuggets, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids, US Ski and Snowboard, NCAA March Madness, Chicago Blackhawks, and NBA Combine.
Outside of work Dr. Stevanovic has a great passion for outdoors, sports and travel. In addition to English, he is fluent in Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian language.
